A NOTE FROM CAROL

A Personal Reflection

Module 7 — A Place Where Time and Space Are Fluid

From time to time, I have experienced moments of deep clarity when insight seemed to come all at once. During prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection, I have sensed something larger than my everyday concerns. For a brief time, everything seemed to fit together in a way that words could hardly explain.

I have also experienced moments of profound peace and devotion that reminded me there is more to life than what I can see or measure. Those experiences have become precious to me. They are not something to fear, but something to receive with gratitude.

Those moments did not remove life's challenges, but they helped me remember that I am more than the roles I play, the stories I carry, or the circumstances I face.

In the waiting room of one of my mentors was a sign that read, "After the ecstasy, the laundry"—a phrase made famous by Jack Kornfield in his book After the Ecstasy, the Laundry. It has stayed with me because it reminds me that these moments of deeper awareness are meant to enrich everyday life, not replace it.

This practice creates space to reconnect with that deeper awareness while remaining grounded in the ordinary, sacred work of living.

Module 7
A Place Where Time And Space Are Fluid

Sometimes the clearest view comes when we step back far enough to see the whole landscape.

There is an inner world, and it is every bit as real as the one we see around us. Much of the time, we live as though only the outer world is shaping our experience. Yet our thoughts, emotions, intuition, and deeper awareness quietly influence how we respond to everything life brings.

As the earlier practices begin to settle and work together, we become more aware of this relationship. We begin to move more freely between our inner and outer experience, allowing each to inform the other. This is the flow of Holding Space Practice—where our inner and outer worlds begin to move together with greater wisdom, presence, and trust.

PAUSE FOR REFLECTION & PRACTICE

A Gentle Invitation

Before moving on, take a moment to pause.

These reflections are not meant to be completed perfectly.

Simply notice what arises.

REFLECTION PROMPT

Recall a time when something quietly became clear.

Perhaps you experienced an "ah-ha" moment, felt deeply understood, or sensed a wisdom that seemed to come from deep within you.

A SHORT PRACTICE

Sit comfortably with your back supported and your spine comfortably upright. You might sit in a kitchen chair or on the floor with your back against a couch.

Like many contemplative practices found across different cultures, this exercise is offered simply as a way to quiet the mind and deepen awareness.

The sound Om has three parts.

The first, "Ah," creates a vibration low in the abdomen.

The second, "Oo" (as in look), resonates through the chest.

The third, "Mmm," creates a gentle vibration in the face and head.

Close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath. As you exhale, slowly sound:

"Ah... Oo... Mmm..."

Repeat the full sound three times.

Then allow the sound to fade into silence.

Rest quietly for a minute or two.

There is nothing you need to make happen. Simply notice what you experience as your attention settles inward.

Many people notice that the quiet which follows makes it easier to sense the connection between their inner and outer worlds. Simply notice whatever is there for you today.

CONTINUE EXPLORING

If you'd like to explore this practice more deeply, the Companion Resources above include a guided breathing course with additional breathing practices.

A Wider View

The practice you are exploring in this module is part of a larger journey.

Each module shines light on a different aspect of awareness and healing, yet all eight work together to create greater spaciousness, presence, and peace.

Return often. Notice what changes. Trust what unfolds.

How is your inner world changing the way you see your outer one?
